Importing 3D AutoCAD Geometry with Materials is Failing

Hi all,

*I posted this in an AutoCAD forum at first and was directed to try posting it in a Revit forum.*

I recently started doing renderings for a company that does not have experience with that design service, so I am on my own when it comes to troubleshooting my software. I have only had experience with Revit, so when some of the furniture pieces that I have been importing are only available as DWGs it has been a little difficult to navigate. There is one piece in particular that is giving me issues. On a first attempt at importing the 3D DWG file I was given it included three different types of chairs and I only needed one, so I tried to explode it to delete the other two, but then all of the geometry disappeared. I then opened the 3D DWG in AutoCAD 2025 to remove the other chairs, but then noticed that part of the geometry was still missing. I exploded it (still in AutoCAD), which then allowed me to see all of the geometry that I needed and then I added materials. In AutoCAD it looks exactly how I want it to. When I saved it and imported it as a DWG into Revit it showed the materials but it was still missing some of that same geometry I was struggling with before (it's part of the legs on a stool that keep disappearing). I've been doing some research and tried saving it as an ACIS SAT file from AutoCAD, and I was then able to see all of the geometry in Revit, but then the materials were lost. If anyone can provide me with some guidance I would really appreciate it!

I'm not quite getting your workflow, but here's how to assign Rendering Materials to DWG Layers in a Project.

could you share this sample 3d dwg with the materials you've assigned?
