Import SAT

Hi,

I've tried to import several different .SAT-files without luck (Import CAD -> SAT)

I keep getting this error which cannot get ignored: "Revit cannot import the file."

Is there a way around and how does people actually import their SAT files into revit?

Hi @ToanDN

I wanted to share an update in this regard:

When importing the "Family2-3DView-{3D}.sat", the following message is received:

"Mass contains only mesh geometry, which can’t be used to compute Mass Floors, volume, or surface area".

The team has requested you to provide a new set of files (rfa files) and a journal.

We are trying to reproduce the same problem, however, it seems that the 'Form' tab does not appear when the object is selected. Pressing the "Finish Mass" button and trying again gives the same result. So they have requested clear step- by step instructions to replicate.

The following steps were tried:

  1. Massing & Site
  2. In-place Mass (accept the default name "Mass 1")
  3. Insert > Import CAD
  4. In the "Filter of type" pull-down, choose "ACIS SAT Files (*.sat)"
  5. Make sure that the "Import as Category" field is set to Mass
  6. Use the "Look in:" field to navigate to the location where "Family2-3DView- {3D}.sat" is stored and select it.
    # Press the Open button to import the SAT file.

Let us know if you did steps/ process differently. This is crucial in replicating and gearing for an improvement. We can start a fresh post if you'd prefer.

Looking forward to your reply update.

Of course, the Form tab is NOT available because the "team" used Revit 2017 to import SAT.  That is the whole point for this discussion.  2016 - Yes, 2017 - No.

Do they actually understand the question?

No, you're just going to have to try a few different SAT files yourself.  I'm trying to work.  Report back when you've tried a few things.  Thanks!

If & when you do, please post the solution in Autodesks Help page.

Hi @Anonymous

Welcome to the Autodesk community!

Can you share a file to test and mention which version of Revit you use?
