Guys, you can see there is a Cezanne painting on the wall. I used image for material, and no matter what x,y scale I tried, the painting won't fit to the...painting. Did I miss anything ?

Use the Image in a Decal.

...is the geometry you are painting the same size as the Image?  If so, maybe there is a Position Offset?

Usually I would use model hatch pattern

Make the hatch size the same as artwork

Move the hatch pattern

That happens when the image is tiled...

Usually if the image has been scaled to the right size and it matches the frame dimensions...when the image Repeat is set to NONE, the image will fit.

Otherwise, if you keep it tiled, you will need to align to the edges using the method highlighted by @syman2000

I don't understand the step "move the hatch pattern", so I set the tiled" to "none". Result: I got a blank painting instead.

I must have GIF'ed the screen capture from photoshop lol...

Apparently after all the testing you have been made, the center of that image is way off the center of that Frame. Your only option now is what @syman2000  suggested

  1. Use Tiled for the image>>
  2. Under graphics tab >> apply a model crosshatch Surface Pattern
  3. Switch to view Hidden Lines >>
  4. Use the align tool to align the vertical and horizontal lines of the model surface pattern to the edges of the frame
  5. Switch back to realistic to validate image tiles shifted

Is that Frame a family or an in-place extrusion?...preferable if you use the former where you would be able to ensure the image aligns to the frame before insert to project.

No sure what you did with the material. So I have to recreate them to make it work.

I would delete the family. Purge it out and then reload the family back in it. Sometimes if you have existing object with material, it will override whatever is new and you won't see the changes.

Because materials in project take over materials in families.  Delete the material in your project, purge the material asset, and reload the family that the fellows fixed for your, so that the new - correct material can come in.

I expected that to happen. Did delete, re insert, and no luck.

Try open new project and insert it in. See if that works. If that works, then something in your current project may hinder it from working. So you may want to add parameter to the artwork. In the project itself, you may want to recreate the material and then add that image.

It will get tiled again in the project no matter what you do...because in the project you have 1 material asset but 10 sizes of the Picture frames. That is the purpose of Tile (to repeat image when offset/not centered to the surface applied to or when its dimension does not match that of the surface it is being applied to)

To get it right,

  1. You need to create a different/new material and a material asset for each frame type LxW.
  2. In each asset, the image need to be scaled to the Dimensions of the frame type

Glad you've got it

If it is full Revit then why not using Decal tool as @barthbradley suggested in the very beginning?  It would be a walk in the park.

I don't think decal works in floating family.
