No.  What I meant to ask was that if the original structural columns were in a linked Revit file.

Hi @Anonymous

Can you try this for me?

Link and bind the IFC file in a host model and see if you get the column from the IFC file.

See HERE for more information on Revit and IFC files

If this does not resolve your issue - send us the file and your journal to troubleshoot. I can share a private folder to upload. Let me know if you have any questions.

If you find posts have solved your problem, please click on 'Accept as solution' to help others with similar questions.

Thank you.

Thanks for reply.

Tried bind. Doesn't seem to work.

Temporary solution I found is

I opened Revit 2017 (Original file was in 2016)

Detached from central and upgraded to 2017 then did ifc export

After that columns appeared. (IFC export settings were same in both version for columns)

Happy to share model with Viveka for further investigation.

How to get the Journal ?

Please provide private folder to upload

Hi @Anonymous

I wanted to share an update with you regarding this issue.

I've tested the file and it's working for me, I just wanted to verify. The columns are in place.

colums are seen in ifc.JPG

  • I tried the IFC export with version 16.6.0 and wanted to check with you if you have the same version installed on your machine.
  • You can download this from the app store.

IFC exporter version 2016.JPG

  • The .NET code used by the Revit 2015-2018 family of products to support IFC can be downloaded HERE
  • From your journal, your Revit build number is 20160217_1800(x64) and you need to install the latest updates for Revit 2016 - see HERE for the latest updates.

Let me know if the above recommendations resolve your issue. if you still continue to face the issue - please send a screenshot of the IFC Export settings.

If you find posts have solved your problem, please click on 'Accept as solution' to help others with similar questions. Kudos welcome!

Thank you.

Thanks for your help Viveka.

My Ifc export version is 16.2.0.0

I will follow your instructions and give a try again

meanwhile, I need to contact our system administrator IT team to get new ifc version installed

As we don't have rights to install
