How to visualize levels

Hi,

I'm not sure why this happened, but I can't visualize my levels. They are not hidden, I checked. I suppose I might have deleted them accidentally. If I create a new level it is visible. The floors are created based on the levels that are not visible. How do I find them and visualize them? Thanks!

Your levels' ends might not intersect with your view. You can check this by using the toggle on the bottom of the screen to Do Not Crop View in an Elevation view, then looking for the level datum lines. Also make sure your Crop Region is visible. Do the level datum lines land within the Crop Region's boundaries? If not, drag/stretch the datum lines' ends so they are within the Crop Region.

Ok, let's keep troubleshooting. Create a new Schedule, select the category Levels, then include the fields Name and Elevation, then sort by Elevation, then click OK. Are the levels you are seeking present on the schedule? If not, then they are not in the project (meaning they were deleted at some time). If they are present, then they are indeed simply not visible in the view. If the latter, are they visible on any other Elevation views?

Also, is a view template applied and the category "Levels" hidden? If so, they would not show up when Reveal Hidden Elements is toggled on. You would need to check the V/G through the view template itself to see if the category was turned off.

Thank you so much! That did it. When I changed the view template from "none" to "architectural" the levels showed up.

But that doesn't answer the question.  Many views have no view template, but still show levels.  When you create a new view, do levels show?

Now the levels show in a new section, but I first need to change the view template to "architectural elevation". Thank you all.

Yeah, that's crazy nuts. You ought to be aware of that.  You have not found a solution.

Do you mean they don't show by default when no view template is applied? That is quite odd.

It sounds like you may need to access the Visibility/Graphics menu to turn the Levels category back on. It sounds like the category "Levels" was turned off in one or more of your views without a view template; if you turn it back on in these views, levels will be visible.

The Architectural view template has levels set to be visible, that is why using this view template is working for you. You do not need the view template to see the levels, though; just follow what I said above and your view(s) without view templates will also show levels.

The typical issue i encounter, save for the template issue or far-clipping of elevation issue, is that the view is not centered on the levels.

Solution: Un-crop view and check for the larger extent. The levels may be to the left or to the right.
