How to unojin wall from ceiling

Hi... I am having trouble with this wall... for some odd reason, it doesn't want to unjoin from the ceiling... I tried enjoining the parts with the unjoin up/down command, I tried unjoining them via the normal join command, but when I look at the properties and there is this:

translates to "Upper part is joined" and it's ticked but Its grayed out. What do I do

Select the wall > Detach Top/Base > Select the ceiling (or click Detach All button if you want to to detach it from everything else).

Just figured it out... Instead of Unjoining them, I needed to join them at the base/top... a rather unusual fix but it worked... thanks!
