How to prevent lines from auto-joining?

Is there any way to disable auto-joining of linear items when they are close to each other more than ~3mm? They don't auto join when the proximity is 4mm.

  • It has nothing with disabling/enabling snap options.
  • I added a screencast to show what I am experiencing.

I checked the community and the most similar case was the link below, but still not resolved as it should be. I also tried to use different workplanes but no luck for my case.

Thank you in advance.

you can use your TAB in your keyboard to select the intersection to attach the line or post your family here so we can check. thanks

Zoom in closer.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Turn your Snaps off temporarily (SO).

It's not about snaps nor zooming in, annotative and model lines will automatically perform the "Trim/Extend to Corner" command even though one or more of the lines' endpoints were already locked to reference planes. It's an issue in families and I haven't see it happen in a project model... at least not yet.

Definitely a bug - think I have finally figured out a work around. The only way to prevent lines auto-joining is to join them to other lines temporarily. Create sacrificial lines before aligning which connect to the end points.

Thanks @ToanDN , but the auto-extend-and-join-because-you-are-too-close ends the chain anyway. I think my grammar was a bit ambiguous, I should have said "create sacrificial lines connected to the ends, then align. Since the ends already have something joined, they won't jump and auto join to other lines giving you a chance to lock to the appropriate reference planes". I should also add that after a day of dealing with this issue, I've also found that sometimes the "sacrificial" lines have to stay permanently as invisible lines or Revit fixes your design later.

They have GOT to fix this - making any type of 2D detail is murderous to unjoin every single line (and fight to prevent Revit from deleting it if it REALLY thinks they should be joined) to create and edit linework.
