How to make roof editable

A roof was imported to Revit as a single uneditable element (I dont have info where from). It has a very complex shape with a lot of curve points. When I double click on it, there is no options to change anything other than "finish model" or "cancel model". What are the ways to make it editable (to change pattern for example etc.) Is it through mass creation? If so how can it be done, since there would be needed millions of reference planes. Is it through Dynamo/Grasshopper implementation? Thanks!

You won't be able to edit the geometry in Revit - you will need to determine the original software package and edit it there.  To change the materials, you can go to Object Styles and look at imported categories.  Find the import and set the materials.

You imported something from other software. This means Revit will treat this as a static object. Depending on how the object was modeled/exported you might be able to change the material but that is as far as modifications can go within native Revit. You could try to recreate the roof with massing tools. then it is a native Revit element and can be changed as you like

Depending on what the roof is exactly, Dynamo might be able to modify it.

It might be best to go back to the creator of the roof an see if he can make modifications as needed

please post the model, or at least the roof portion of the model, so we can look at it.
