How to make L shaped corner curtain wall panel in Revit

Hi Everyone,

 

Recently I have a problem and here is the picture. I want to create the family of this corner panel D-A-9 but I dont know how to do it.  It is noticed that this is a panel actually not the corner mullion.  Also, I am quite interested in how to let this in place using curtain systems. Could you please help me? Thank you very much. 578967533.jpg

 Model In-Place.

Start with the Storefront wall type.

User the "L Corner Mullion 5" x 5" Corner" Mullion for the border mullion

Click Edit Type and duplicate

Change material to Glass

Change thickness to match thickness of panel (i.e. 1")

Change offset to align panels faces

Yep.  Model that whole corner piece.  Then just but your storefront standard pieces into it.

this method doesn't account for a top, bottom, or middle mullion which it surely will have.

I didn't realize your issue was for horizontal mullions too.  From the picture, it looked like you just needed help on a vertical corner mullion situation.

 

For the horizontal mullions, what shape is the horizontal mullion?  You can create a custom mullion profile and use this within the Type Properties of the curtain wall.

You can TAB select the panels and edit in place to miter them.  Screencast in a few minute.

This is what I was thinking  because the OP said "this is a panel actually not the corner mullion".

Yes, this is exactly what I am saying. I know the model in place or void cutting is a solution but I just want to know is there some way that we can model this in a family? So it is possible to extract some useful information from it such as surface area and generate the schedules for the whole building.

You can create a panel family with a mitered end and a proper setback distance so that when you replace the two corner panels with the panel family, they miter properly.  Then you can schedule them normally.  Another option is Paint the surfaces you want to schedule and filter a material take-off schedule using As Paint field, that way you can use either a model in place L shaped panel, or system panels edited in place as shown in my screencast, or even thin L glass walls.

You can label dimensions with shared parameters in an in-place component just as you'd do in a loadable component. And you can include formula-driven parameters (e.g. Volume=Length*Height*Thickness or, Area=Length*Height).
