How to Include Floor Parameters in a Room Schedule in Revit

Hi everyone,

I need to create a room schedule in Revit, but I also want to include two extra shared parameters that belong to floors. When I try using a multi-category schedule to include these parameters, I encounter an issue—Revit displays the room parameters and floor parameters separately instead of in a single row.

How can I ensure that for each room, the corresponding floor parameters appear in the same row within the schedule? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Use floor finish parameter within rooms

Give a common parameter (ie. Comments) of the room and the floor in the room the same value and sort by it, untick Itemize.. then they will become one row.

Thanks to both of you. Yes, we can do that. However, this approach requires adding an extra parameter to rooms or floors, which is not ideal—especially for large-scale projects like those using BIM.

A Floor element are not Room aware component even if you model such floors within the boundaries of the room. The only way to do what you want is

  • Either to do it manually as suggested previously
  • Or to use Dynamo to identify floor elements within a specific room >> read their parameter and write it to the Rooms
  • Or if it is finishes related exercise, try Roombook/Areabook extension that comes with Revit
