How to copy and paste one generic model inside another?

As I found difficulty in applying cut geometry, Join geometry, Union etc in different geometric models, Is it possible to copy and paste one geometric model inside another?

OR

Is there any ways that two different geometric models could cut, join, Union?

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps give more details - its not clear what you're trying to achieve.

You can nest a family into another family if required.

You can link a project into a different project if required.

You cannot cut solid family geometry with nested family void geometry in the Family, but you can cut solid Family geometry with void family geometry in the Project.  NOTE: The void needs to be unattached and "Cuts with Void when Loaded" needs to be checked in the Family.

...this applies to Join as well.

Thank you for the reply.

For creating the solid geometry model, I have created every parts of model such a cube, cyinder, cubboid etc. as a generic model in the project(not in family). When I try to do any thing between those models such as union, cut ,join etc, I can do nothing. I was wondering is there any tricks or ideas to play with the generic models otherwise what will be the benefit of creating generic models if it cannot be played with another generic models created within the same project?

Are you saying you modeled all the geometry In-Place?

...are you getting stymied by the fact that you can't close out of an In-Place Void.  You need to cut something with the void BEFORE closing out.

Are you sure you choose Generic Models category when creating the in-place models? They should cut/join easily.

yes.

I am beginner in revit and to make model by inserting autocad drawing, I am using the above to model the elements of the object.

Am I following the right process? or is there any other ways to model.

I tried in family and conceptual mass too but as it is difficult to insert autocad drawing, it is difficult for me to model.

Thank you

I don't understand your workflow, but it sounds like you are trying to get your AutoCAD Elements to behave like Revit Elements?

What is the process?  Are you following a tutorial or something?

I watched few tutorials for modelling objects in revit. I wanted to ask that I chose model in place to model different parts of the model. Is it ok?

Going to need a  whole lot more information from you to be able to advise you properly.  Like for instance; what are you modeling/building? Maybe you can post a link to one of the videos you watched.
