Not really, I have to un check the box every time. I can't seem to find a way to set the default to "not checked"

Are we talking about the same thing? I'm referring to Area Scheme. What are you referring to?

When you go to the "Place Area Boundary" the apply area rules check box is on by default.

ToanDN, this question was not resolved. Please unmark this question as answered since it places this post at the top of the search results and wastes people's time.

The question was: The Area Boundary command default is "Apply Area Rules." The questioner and I would like to know how to change the default to NOT "Apply Areas Rules," i.e., the Apply Area Rules checkbox should be unchecked when the Area Boundary command is initiated. If this is possible, the answer is probably some code to be added to the user's Revit.ini file.

This is clearly not solved, again, is there a way to not have the "apply area rules" checkbox be enabled by default when using the pick line tool for area boundry? It doesn't work the way I need it to so I have to uncheck it every time, very annoying.

Would like to reiterate this issue. I have 9 levels of area plans drawn with the apply area rules checked. How does one uncheck that for all previously created area boundaries.

Secondly, why is this a thing anyway? Why dont area boundaries just work like every other line in the program?!

I also am looking for an answer to this question. It would save a lot of time if I didn't have to uncheck the "Apply Area Rules" box each time I go to draw area boundary lines. Seems like toggling this box ought to change the command's default mode, but I'm skeptical and will be surprised if there is a workaround.

You can disable the option via the Revit.ini file

Can you please tell us how you did it? I tried adding the

"AreaBoundary_ApplyAreaRules=0" to the ini-file, but can´t get it to work @betsyjcole 

Edit: So this is a new function in revt2024.1? To bad I'm still on 2022 in my main project.

It's an option new to 2024.1 only (and newer).
