Hi Everyone

I'm asking about the method to calculate the total volume of columns when they intersect with slabs or beams instead of slab and beams volumes

Thanks

Accepted solution

add new reported parameter to measure the height

then create shared parameter named volume = height * width * length

Thanks for Your time and considerations

It worked with me But  When getting column attached to the slab, it calculates the length to he bottom elevation of the slab

Is it a must to attach columns to slabs and footings !!

no, don't attach them
create level for footing and level for last slab and link the columns to those levels

I can use Switch Join Order to force Revit to calculate the full volume of column and the rest volume of slab

Is there any thing wrong in that !!!

I know It will take much time to repeat the order with each column.

this too much work to do and may cause error
you may forget slab or two and in project life you may add or remove slabs and col
you should repeat the job on them
but there is anther solution if you like the long way
edit each slab and draw bounty around the column so Revit can subtract this from slab area and calculate the hole col
also you can draw shaft around the column , this also will do the job but may affect performance
