Fatal Error when open a view (even in a linked model)

Hello everyone,

I´ve a problem on my CENTRAL model (Revit 2016), everytime when I open a specific view revit crash with "fatal error". After it, sometimes I can still work in the model other times Revit shut down.

Even in a separate model where I have this file linked, for sheets puorpouse, when I open I view it crashes with the same error.

I have audit the central model, I also have compact the model and create a new CENTRAL but I get the same.

I have look every single family load in the project and doesn´t find anything.

Any suggestions? I don´t know what more I can try to fix the model.

The issue might be caused by an object that jumped from their workset into another that is not a "user-workset" ..... what I mean by that is the object is now part of a "standards workset" such as "Project info" or "Structural settings" etc.

To verify if this is the issue you have, run this test:

Create a fresh brand-new 3D view, go to VG dialog and CLOSE all worksets. Now zoom extents the view. If there are objects still showing, that is them. Most probably, such objects will not allow you to change their workset in the properties window, and if this is the case, you must CUT the objects to the clipboard, then paste them back into the same place.

Other causes (or possible solutions) of this issue:

  • Corrupt annotation object or family
  • Your Revit 2016 is not the latest and needs updating
  • Revit has hardware acceleration On
  • Graphis card driver needs updating
  • Try opening the model in 2017.2 or 2018 in hope of Revit pointing out what is the issue
  • A corrupt family - this one might be hard to find. You may start by searching the problematic view for any custom families that have been recently loaded or updated.

Let me know!

Thank you byousif,

I did what you decribe, and can´t find any objects when I close worksets

I´ve also open in revit 2018,  and the get the same issue.  I notice that in many views copperponding this level made Revit crashes.

If I close all worksets, and reopened one each time, trying to find in wich workset I´ve the problem... but doing this way y I have no problem.

I think you have tried to open the file in other versión and get the same error,

Have you tried to find any corrupted family?
