How do you make the end of rafter beam straight?

How do you make the end of rafter beam straight? 

Please see the attachment. I made the rafter beam using Structure's Beam System,

You can draw a reference plane where you would like the rafters to end and extend the rafters beyond the reference plane.  Then use the reference plane to cut the rafters.

Extend them.  Cope them.  Zero out the Coping Distance. Both at Ridge and Fascia Boards. The intelligence is built-in.

How do you extend the structural system? When I select the rafter, I don't see the end points to grab and extend. 

Is it because I used "beam system" to create my rafters? how do I extend the rafters?

Press the Trim/Extend Multiple Elements button, then select your fascia board first, and them select each rafter one by one. It shouldn't matter that they in a Beam System. Revit should automatically recognize and trim/extend each beam as you click on them.

When I used "Trim/Extend Multiple Elements" for my rafters and fascia, the rafter did not go flush to the fascia, but I did take your advice on unpinning my rafters to see the handles (yay! thank you!!!). After unpinning them, I was able to extend them and use the reference plane method (to cut) mentioned by TimELZ49 and it worked!

Your method worked, but is there an easier way by any chance? 

I've been extending the rafter one by one and cutting them one by one. Wondering if there's a way I can do this faster. 😅

I don't understand why you gave up. Sounds like you were on the verge of actually learning how to do it the right way in Revit. Ref. Plane is a work-around that will actually dumb the beam construct intelligence.  

Give it another shot after a good night's rest.  Bet you beat it tomorrow.

What I said in Message #3 was: "Extend them. Cope them. Zero out the Coping Distance." 

You missed the most important step. Cope them. Then the "Coping Distance" Parameter will appear.  Zero it out.  You may or may not need to tweak the Cope to make it look just right.  Tweak one rafter and use the "Match Type Properties" (Modify tab) to apply it's Properties to all the other rafters. Bada Bing. Bada Boom.

I just discovered why your method didn't work with my model. 

 Trim/extend multiple elements doesn't work and coping distance option doesn't show up when I use "Architecture > Roof> Roof:Fascia" to create my fascia. When I used "Structure > Beam" to create my fascia, then your method worked.

Is there a way I can use "Roof:Fascia" and still make your method work?
