Hey guys,

How do you create a family that can be edited in place?

I have made the cleat in the screen shot below using generic model family. i want to be able to edit the extrusion in place. at the moment i have to edit it in family.

is it possible to have it editable in place?

Sorry for mis-read your post. Only model in-place allows you to edit. If it is a family and you want to edit it directly like in-place, there is no function to that unfortunately. It is one of the road map which many users are requesting.

I know how to model in place.

I want to create a family that I can load and edit in place. I have a shape that only needs small changes all throughout my project. i don't want to start the shape from scratch every time. i normal adjustment looks like the image I've attached.

Perhaps the best way is to have profile condition that will adjust according to your need. Here is a sample family you can look at that will adjust the top and bottom width.

Sounds like you want to create a family with shape handles.

If so, that's done by constraining the geometry sketch linework to Ref. Planes or Ref. Lines and driving those Ref. Planes/Lines with Labeled Dimensions to INSTANCE Parameters.  Open and inspect the OOTB Counter Top w Sink Hole.rfa to see how it is done.
