Highlighting elements by date modified/created

Is there a way to automatically create a heat map of modifications in my RVT file?

For example, each element that was modified on date 1/1 (and all related views of those elements) change to red. Elements changed on 1/2 to blue. 1/3 to green. Etc.

When a client requests a modification, it would be fantastic to have:

1. a visual record of what was changed without additional markups (or printed sheets covered in highlighter)

2. a convenient warning system for changes that affect additional views (If changes are highlighted, I can quickly flip through the sheets looking for what was effected)

3. a better tool to explain to the older generation why I can't make the same element have different attributes from different views. "Change this in plan... now it looks bad in elevation! Why did you do that?!"

Placement of families is not time stamped (AFAIK). This means you will need to add this functionality.

Kiwicodes has a (paid) add-in with tools that does this (there might be others). Basically when the addin is running it can fill a parameter with the time it is placed. Then you can use this date in combination with filters to colour things.

Or you can try to do something yourself in Dynamo.

Tracking modifications will be very tricky. What is considered a modification? Example, how would you track moving a family instance and then moving it back?

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
