Help Needed: Deformation Analysis for Ceiling Tiles

Hello everyone,

We're currently working on a project involving the deformation analysis of ceiling tiles in an old steel works building dating back to the 1950s. The client has requested a report on the condition of these tiles, as new guidelines indicate potential issues after this many years.

Our approach involves using an RTC360 scanner to capture the ceiling's details, and we aim to create a user-friendly report for our non-technical client. Specifically, we plan to generate a ceiling plan image with a 'heatmap' style color scheme (red, amber, green) to highlight any bowing or sagging in the tiles.

Additionally, we want to provide a spreadsheet containing information about each tile, either named or numbered, with the same color-coded system for easy reference by the client. Our proposed tolerance levels for the ceiling plan are as follows:

  • Up to 10mm deviation: Green
  • 10 to 20mm deviation: Amber
  • Over 20mm deviation: Red

We are reaching out to the Autodesk Community seeking advice, tips, or any relevant insights on the best tools or features within Autodesk to efficiently accomplish this task. If anyone has experience with similar projects or suggestions on how to enhance the clarity and user-friendliness of our reports, your input would be highly appreciated.

Moreover, since the client plans to repeat this process every 6 months for the next 2 years, we are open to any recommendations on optimizing the workflow for regular assessments.

Thank you in advance for your valuable assistance!

Sounds fascinating. Out of my wheel house, but I really don't see Revit alone working here.  I'm thinking you would need Autodesk Recap Pro to do the heavy lifting - so to speak. 😉

FWIW.
