Help accessing families

hi there

I am operating on Revit 2018 - I am trying to access an Autodesk Family -- Window with Arch on it.  Please see the screen grab of what family I am looking for and the message I receive.  I assume the families are not loaded correctly to system.  Can anyone help me load these Autodesk Families?

Thanks in advance.

Helen

not a problem... I used to do that all the time, in a door tools and click Load family when I'm really trying to load a different category. I always tell my staff  "when in doubt, use the insert ribbon...".

This error appears when you try to load a family with the wrong tool. like clicking on the door tool then load family and select a window instead of a door.

to load a window family: "Architecture" tab >> Window >> load family, select the family.

if you are doing so but this error appear, so this family is set to a wrong category but that need you to share the family to check if it's only about wrong category or the family is not modelled as a window.

Yes, the smallest error can waste a lot of time so all help is very appreciated.

I was in luck for an Arched Window.  I see there is no Arch Door Family in Autodesk Library.  I don't suppose you have any solution for that one?  See photo

Thanks much - if not don't worry, ill try to recreate 🙂

you could take a standard door and edit the family (copy it first). should only need to edit the panel extrusion and the frame path (frames are usually sweeps).
