Hatch Pattern

Can anyone get this hatch pattern to load into an imported model fill pattern? I want to use this stone hatch because it's the correct pattern from the manufacturer, but I can't seem to import it. Any ideas?

This is the stone manufacturer's website where I downloaded the attached file from: https://creativemines.us/product/craft-split-modular

When I import to Pattycake, all sorts of errors show up (image). Looks like it was created with something (no joke) called "Booby Hatch". This seems to be a LISP definition circa 1995ish created by Looking Glass Microproducts. Also looks like they accidentally packaged AutoCAD.pat file along with one of their downloads.

I'd suggest writing/making your own (we can help) --- or we might have a good substitute for you in our library 😎

@Pattycake_Kyle Thanks for the reply. Would you be able to help us out in making a pattern for this material?

@jrfrost yep, happy to help.

Can you shoot an email to our hi [at] pattycake.io email address? I'll share with you the DXF file to populate lines with, and then I can run it through our pat generator for you. I'll then post the pat here as well for anyone else who stumbles across this post.

HatchKit readily loads SPLIT_MODULAR and hints at the underlying problem - being too big for Revit's Fill Manager widget to accept.  BoobyHatch has constructed a hatch pattern that can be used (with some difficulty due to its size - 5732 elements!!) in AutoCAD but by running off the rails so badly has stumped OOTB Revit.  The problem is that  elements specified within a unit square are redundantly replicated without reason in both X and Y to create a pattern definition that sprawls far beyond Revit's upper tolerance on pattern size.  BoobyHatch extebtsBoobyHatch extebts

Zooming to the expected extents shows the pattern has generated elements that would be acceptable if they had proper repetitions:

BoobyHatch DetailBoobyHatch Detail

Capturing those elements comprising the singleton template can be done in HatchKit or AutoCAD (without  redrawing)and be processed by HatchKit to obtain a much lighter pattern definition of 181 elements  acceptable to Revit's Fill Manager and as attached to this post.

Also attached is the same pattern with a skewed arrangement that effectively avoids the "postage-stamp" effect so often seen in simply-stacked patterns generated by algorithms restricted to a square or a rectangular template.

I hope this helps,

Thanks @hugha and @Pattycake_Kyle for your responses. Would either of you be able to assist me in making a pattern for this stone product?

The zipped file attached to my previous post contains two alternative  patterns, each being a working version of the SPLIT_MODULAR pattern you originally linked to.   Please advise if you seek further assistance.

Hugh Adamson.

@hugha I tried both files you attached, and when I import into Revit they show as solid, because of how dense the

pattern is. Do I need to import at a different scale factor than 1?Screenshot 2021-03-11 075913.jpg

>Do I need to import at a different scale factor than 1?

Definitely.  The original Boobyhatch pattern was drawn in a unit square which imports to Revit as within a 1 sq.in. box.

It's surprising that it did not get rejected for being too small. Even so, my bad for not scaling to something more real-world before posting.

100 would give a reasonable patch but to be perfectly accurate you will need the manufacturer's  product specifications to determine the true scale factor.

@jrfrost here ya go. https://pattycake.io/official/pat/zWWEgJrNn8l

Creative Mines website isn't loading for me properly at the moment, and I cant find specifications/CAD, so did some estimation for the layout based on your 5" for the largest stone height.
