GUI Only Grid Dots.

Okay...  I've been "Out sick" for awhile.

Remember the "Display Only" Grid Dots in AutoCAD, and Architectural Desktop and so on..?

They were Scaleable: 1 x 1 or 1 x 2, etc... Could be set to any angle...  And..!  Snapped to!

It was a great tool, Reference for Annotation Alignments and Clean Drafting practices.

I've searched for hours and can find no Switch/Toggle or Command for this function.

Is this not available at all in REVIT(s)?

If not...  It should be.

Hi Bradley,

Nope.  Remember the "White Dots" Pattern if turned on thru the F7 Function.

If "Spacing not set they would display at the same "Square" spacing n matter the Zoom result.

If Scale Set...  They would display Denser if Zoomed Out greatly...  or "Spaced Widely" if Zoomed In close.

If "Grid" were set to 1x1 and Grid Snap were toggled on...  Cursor would Snap to Grid Point/Dot.

This is not a grid applied to entities or sheets.  Only to the GUI.

That's an AutoCAD thing. There's nothing comparable to it in Revit.  

...although maybe pre-2008. That's as far back as I go. Either that, or I just don't remember Revit having that function.

ha ha....GRID (Gridmode, gridstyle, etc) in Autocad.  Yeah, nothing like that in Revit.  Still exists in Autocad though.

I've seen people add a ton of construction lines, or even worse reference planes just to create a grid.

I usually recommend a primary grid system (using the Grid tool in Revit) then an alternate system assigned to another workset that spaces them further.

LMAO! I think I may have had the Workplane Viewer activated while I was racking my brain trying to figure out what the OP might be thinking of.  Duh!

@reliablegraphics:  F12 on my machine.  Just five away from F7 (Spell Check).  You got me thinking. Maybe I'll switch 'em. Don't know why I've never done that before.  You'd think it would be that way by default. F7 to toggle Gridmode in ACAD.  F7 to toggle Workplane Viewer/Grid in Revit.   Those are kinda, sorta comparable.  Great idea! Thanks!
