Ground slab element cutting through beam

Hi, another noob question from me today.

I have concrete ground beam foundations within my building. Suspended floor, so I am placing a oversite concrete slab underneath. As you can see from my screenshot, the hardcore (bottom layer of the slab buildup) is cutting through the concrete beam. I actually need this to cut the other way around, so the concrete beam 'cuts' the hardcore part of the floor slab as per my red line sketched on the screenshot.

Is this possible, or do I need to create two separate floor elements?

What dictates which element is cut by the other? (i.e. priority)
