Hello,
I am trying to create a Global Parameter that will pull the area from a filled region so I don't have to go type it in at each instance; then create a schedule.
Is there a formula that would accomplish this? Screenshot attached.
Any other ideas?
Why don't you do a material takeoff? Use paint tool instead of filled region?
I am not sure I understand, filled regions already report the area. Can't you just use that?
Maybe describe what the end goal is. What are you trying to capture? There might be a better way than filled regions.
Ah, thanks, @ToanDN.
Material take-off sounds like a good idea. I will check it out. Thanks, @barthbradley.
The end goal is to create elevations for NREC analysis, tag the areas and create a schedule totaling the different areas.
I started using the method at the link below to tag the filled region areas:

The current practice in the office has been to use filled regions for this. It has been a little cumbersome and I am looking for ways to streamline this.
does this help?
Thanks, @cbcarch. That is the link I was using.
I was able to accomplish my objective; however, I will still play around and explore ways to hopefully make it a little more automated.
Looks like there is a dynamo script that will be useful.

Thanks all for your input and responses!
Cheers!

I second @barthbradley suggestion of using the actual model in lieu of filled regions to calculate the Area. Filled regions only report proper Area if you look straight onto the flat facade. If you have angled/ tilted/ stepped/ curved walls then it wouldn't work.
