I recorded a 30 second clip of the issue , link above. Also I attached a before and after picture of the action.

Basically it is only Revit 2023 misbehaving, even after multiple uninstalls and install to see if it would make it go away.

It occurs even with a blank template.

Symptoms, during window select to the left (all) or to the right (per element) and drag on screen it distorts the graphics of any visible line or model, making lines disappear, get thicker, or overlaying of same image but bigger size, once you done doing the window select and stop the dragging it goes away.

Simultaneously 1 to 4 green squares the size of a pen tip appears on the top left corner of active window, they populate during the window selection and drag process.

The following versions work just fine, Revit 2020, 2021, 2022, & 2024

Hi,

Almost looks like a addin graphics effect super imposed on the canvas...

What happens if you disable all addins from loading, does it also happen on other Revit versions?

Revit 2023 was just installed, still same symptom. Other versions works just fine they all been downloaded the same.

Are we saying Installing a Revit version automatically disable add-ins, then only Add-ins that shows up is Transmit a Model, Help, About and Convert RFA to Formit Converter.

What does Revit report in Options regarding the video card/driver? Is the mouse unique, have multiple buttons or options that could be interfering? Screen resolution and scaling greater than 100%?

All great questions.

I would think these questions be disregarded since I have tested and ran the following versions and everything works just fine, and Revit 2023 was working just fine. Up until 2 weeks ago. All 2023 versions files were uninstalled , and then re-downloaded again, that did not fix it. Would you agree?

The versions that work just fine are previous ones currently installed and used daily are version 20,21,22 and also beyond with 2024, it all works, same computer , graphics cards, mouse, keyboard, etc. Only 2023 is misbehaving.

I will still go ahead and give some answers to your discovery questions just in case to keep this going.

Mouse is Logitech MX Vertical, mouse not using any customization regardless of buttons available.

Screen at 100% , 1920 x 1080

I had issues with Autodesk software not working properly a few months ago and it turned out to be Windows OS updates not being applied. In my case it was the most recent service update that kept failing and until that was resolved I couldn't open any 2023 software while others were fine. So...while you're assumption seems safe...we won't know until you've ruled things out. I started a support request via the Autodesk chat and ended up talking to a support tech for a couple hours before we figured it out.

What does the Hardware tab report regarding the graphics card?

Totally agree with your thoughts.

I missed to share a step , this occurred after I clicked download latest update of Revit 2023. Since then this happens, but I figure it would be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling.

What was your solutions regarding on your end.?

Here is the hardware tab pic

Okay, Revit isn't flagging an issue with the graphics hardware, that's good. In my case it wasn't Revit or Autodesk Software "failing" it was a service pack update for Windows that would not install. The lack of that patch seemed to cause issues with Revit 2023 starting...or Autodesk 2023 etc. It appears that something in the installation of 2023 required something that the failing update provided and I was missing. Once I got that update applied the software worked again.

FWIW, I started my support request by visiting the Admin panel for my Autodesk Account and then clicked the Chat option that appeared in the bottom right of the screen. It took awhile but eventually I was speaking to someone directly and worked through ruling out everything we could on "their" side of the equation. That only left the missing update. It took me awhile to work around the missing update issue because it wouldn't just install as it's supposed to. I forget what I did specifically now but I found something at Microsoft that helped me get it installed.

Thank you for your feedback.

That is the observation I had, Revit 2023 needed the update, update did not work, the fix should of been by downloading the latest full version, which it comes with all updates applied.

To me it represents that their latest update is buggy.

But I will reach out to them.

My issue wasn't a missing update from Autodesk, it was missing from Windows. I suspect it was a prerequisite update from Microsoft that Autodesk's required for theirs to function. Computers are a house of cards of software code.

Just sharing more in case others run into the same case.

I just downloaded latest drivers for AMD Radeon Pro WX 7100 drivers.

And tested Revit 2023, it made the green squares go away.

It made the the other issues go away.

The only two that persist is during window select process it makes the graphics distorted, some lines would disappear, some lines become broken, but once you done with the command it goes back to normal.

During mouse wheel click and drag, makes everything look like it has grains running through it, once you done with the command it goes back to normal.

Honestly , I enjoyed the green squares vs what still persist lol.

Our IT guy did mention that users with Nvidia had issues recently.
