Generic model pattern based - line issue

hello  -

I'm working on a panel design which i plan to apply on a pattern surface.

a 'profile' family cannot be imported into 'generic model pattern based',

so I've created lines in 'generic model' family and imported the lines into 'generic model pattern based' and created forms.

when I loaded the finished panel design into a project and tried to apply it to a pattern, it failed to generate the model.

It seemed like the project could not read how the 'generic model' lines were nested to 'generic model pattern based' family. So I drew all the profile lines directly on the 'generic model pattern based' and created forms, it worked fine.

I still would not want to give up the convenience of working in 2d views of 'profile' environment. Drawing details in the work plane viewer window is very limiting. Importing DWG is also limiting since it needs to be exploded and set to correct origin point.

hi - thanks for the reply. I think I found a work around.

I generated full geometry in generic model environment (instead of the lines to create form in pattern based family environment) and made it kind of adaptive by linking parameters to reporting parameters of the pattern based family (width and length of the pattern --> W / L of the imported geometry)
