Generic model for roof : on top?? (2013)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create a generic model (roof) that is supposed to lie on the top of the roof. My roof is a system composed of a substrate, insulation and waterproofing membrane. My objectif is a basic object that should be on the roof.

When creating a familiy, using the generic model (roof), the level of reference is the bottom of the roof.

This means that when I'm importing my model into a project, my object will be "inside" the roof instead of being on top of it. I can manually

shift it into the generic model but the shift size will be static, and not dynamically adapted to the height of the roof in my project.

This problem does not exist with Floor because the level of reference of a floor is on the top...

I hope you got what I've tried to explain 😉

Thanks for your help

Victor

Have you considered face based family?

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
