generic model BOM

How do you create a BOM that calculates the number of generic models and fills them into the BOM. Is it possible to have something that would autofill part number, quantity, and description of generic models in the model? Could you specify which generic models go in the BOM? Could you also make it a feature you could turn off and on in sheets?
