Can you give an example of what you are trying to achieve? The formula may be a family parameter, it may be a part of calculation carried out by a label in a tag family, or it may be for a calculated parameter in a schedule. A family that you are attempting to create would be very helpful to provide an appropriate solution.

Formulas are to provide relationships among different parameters.  You need to plan ahead what relationships you need in order to know which formulas to be used.  So be more specific.
