Formit Converter Brings in Empty Model

Hello!

I am attempting to bring Sketchup models in to Revit as Conceptual masses because I want to host other Revit families to these models.

When I convert my Sketchup models to Formit models, I get a success message from Revit and upon opening the Formit models, I see the model in Formit.

However, for some models, when I go to bring them from Formit into a new empty conceptual mass, the process completes without error, but no geometry has been loaded.

So far, I have tried purging thees troublesome Sketchup models, clearing all hidden or unused geometry, reduced the file size to under 1MB (that seems to be the magic number for my systems...over 1MB will continually throw errors until Revit crashes), and checked in Formit to make sure the solids were normal and watertight. I've also run the process on 3 different machines.

I really need to get these models in to Revit as hostable objects, so any suggestions on how to make this work would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello @rmarkowitz,

can you upload the sketchUp model so I can have a look at it?

Hello @robert.klempau

Thanks for the response. I've placed the models in the below Dropbox folder...Again, I can convert it to Formit, and I can see the model in Formit, but when I bring it in to a new Conceptual Mass in Revit, no geometry is loaded and there is no error message.

Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide!

You are supposed to bring in FormIt model into a project (RVT), not a conceptual model (RFA).

Also ... there is a FormIt 360 Converter For Revit 2017.1 Update to install:

Should be showing up in your Autodesk Desktop App.

Here are the readmes on this and previous updates.

And a ton of great info and resources free at Autodesk University online: FormIt at AU

Thanks for the reply!

I am using Revit 2016...is there a way to see if I have the correct version of the converter installed?

I am still seeing this issue - generally smaller models import no problem, but anything over 1MB still does not show up in Revit.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
