I am currently working on a Revit model for a historical restoration project and our team is using model-in-place walls at specific locations on the exterior envelope to accommodate various details. The window/door openings are stacked typically throughout the building and can be copied and pasted by level.
The issue we're encountering is when we try to copy/paste windows or doors from a Wall to a model-in-place Wall (and vice-versa) - we get the following error message:
Can't place inserts outside of hosts. These elements won't be copied.
All model-in-place walls are categorized as 'Walls' and use the corresponding level as a workplane. We're trying to avoid uniquely modelling hosted elements at these locations due to the scale of the project, so it would be helpful if a solution could be identified.
It's my understanding that Create Similar only works for one object at a time. Is there a way to select multiple objects (e.g. 30 windows) at once?
There are ~6000 windows and doors on the building, so that's a lot of adjustment for something that is typically stacked. Phasing for demo/reinstall is involved too, so a majority of those elements need to be duplicated.
It might make more sense to abandon the model-in place walls and find an alternate solution for all the facade articulation.
