Floor Breakthrough does not cut multiple floors

Hi to everyone!

I am working with Revit 2018 and I am facing the following issue :

In my model I have the following structure composed of 3 different floors placed one above the other :

starting from above -

1. Double floor

2.Reinforced concrete slab

3.Insulation

All three floor components are joined with each other.

I have placed a Floor Breakthrough Family (taken from Revit Library) on the fist floor (double floor)

but as you can see in the picture it is not cutting through the 3rd floor (insulation).I wonder why?

Any help would be appreciated!...also suggestions for alternative solutions!

not sure what a breakthru family is....however,

you can use the Shaft Opening command to cut any horizontal 3d model geometry and control the top and bottom ends of the shaft opening as well as make any custom shape (closed loop sketch).

A "breakthrough Family"  is an"opening"

family for floors with an integrated "symbol" for the type of opening to be defined and that is why

I wanted to used this family, because of the integrated symbol.

Otherwise I would have used the "shaft opening" option you suggested but then without having the

symbol.

If I do not find a way to make this family work then yes I will go for the "shaft opening" option!:)

If you create the family with a void then you need to use Cut geometry to cut the floors, all three of them even they are joined.

Where is this family located or what is the exact file name?  I'm not finding anything in the library with "break" that is an opening.

Is this by chance a custom family created in your office?  I wonder if there is a parameter to allow the void to change thickness?  Then perhaps you just need to cut the family from your third layer of floor.  Which makes me wonder why you don't just use one floor?

The name is "Deckenaussparung" (I use German version) and yes it is an "Opening" Family from

Revit Library. No I did not create it myself…..

@ToanDN It's a void family.  I'm thinking floor 1 and 2 are actually one floor and it can only cut the floor that it is hosted to. Else Floor 1 was copied down and the void family went with it.

BTW, family is in 2018...

@Anonymous  In the family, do not cut the floor with the void because that would make the family only cut its host in project.  Tick Cut with void when loaded, reload the family in project, stretch the bottom of the void to span all three floors, and use Cut geometry to cut the 3 floors in project manually.

@ToanDN I see your point. It can work around as a solution, but it is what I was trying to avoid,

is cutting the floors manually in the Project!

I am just asking myself :

Why is the opening cutting the first 2 floors and not the third? Acctually it is hosted in the  1rst floor, the

one above. If you notice the picture I have posted, right under the floor opening there is a wall opening Family

(Wanddurchbruch) which cuts perfectly 3 separate walls!!!! It makes me wonder why 2 Families that share

the same "concept idea", which is cutting through elements, act differently when placed in a floor

or a wall.
