Why can we not easily find DWG files that someone imported into Revit? Forget the fact that a user should use link instead of import so I don't need to hear replies about that.
I am very familiar with Revit but this is one thing that is lacking with this product. At least in AutoCAD there is Quick select that lets you search everything and anything in the drawing, or I can write a lisp routine. There is nothing in Revit that helps the use find anything. Filter only works if you select objects first but if the DWG happens to be in a drafting view you have to go into each one and that still may not find them. I've tried messing with Dynamo and some Python but don't really have the time to learn a new language these days. I've downloaded or tried entering in code from users online only to find they not longer work because the versions didn't support it. At least Lisp was solid and almost always worked. I have routines from 1989 that still work.
I've downloaded and purchased programs from the Revit store but each time you upgrade they have to be reinstalled and that's only if the developer is still around and supports the newer version.
What is the real answer here? Well I think this needs to be part of the product.
What other way is there to solve this issue? What am I missing?
