Filled Region behavior in Title Block Family

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working in Revit 2021 and editing a Titleblock family.

For our sales plans we add a small overview plan to the titleblock family to mark where each unit is located in the project. This is an old example from autocad:

We create generic annotation families that contain jpg's of the overview floor plans, in order to control the display of each floorplan because you can't add a visibility parameter to a jpg.

To mark each unit we want to use a solid filled region that is transparent.

After some testing it appears that a filled region can not cover a generic annotation or am I missing something?

I also couldn't achieve a transparent filled region in my title block family yet.

We prefer to use the jpg's in generic annotations as overview plans instead of actual revit views, since we edit them in photoshop before they need to appear on the sheet... If there is no other way I guess we have to add the views to the sheet but problem is that you can not create a filled region on a sheet, but you can in the title block family...

Any ideas or suggestions?

Use another generic annotation with a filled region in it ... create the filled region in a generic annotation so to say and nest that GA into the title block family to mask with it.

Thanks for your reply.

Seems like a solid idea, but we want to avoid putting the filled region in a seperate generic annotation family.

We want the filled regions to simply be in the titleblock family and add a visibility parameters for each unit.

If a project has about 100 units it would take a lot of work creating a generic annotation family with a filled region for each unit. The shape of the unit marking is almost never the same and we need to be able to edit it easily.

Well ...give the TEXT or LABEL a visibility parameter negative to that of the filled region...like if the Filled region is MASK, the Label or Text visibility will be not(MASK) .... See GIF below

Otherwise, in terms of masking...using a FR in a GA is the only way I know that will efficiently work....and it is only 1 annotation, you place several instances... I think it takes just about the same time or even quicker to place instances than to create a filed regions or resize them!

Not sure though why you want them in the Title block family and not just mask out what you need straight on the sheet in the project... isn't it more practical than having 20 masks with on off visibility while you need just one or 2?

Ideally that would be a great solution, but you can't use filled regions on sheets...

Use detail group:

- draw a detail line or text on sheet, group it, copy to clipboard

- open a drafting view, paste to place the group

- edit the group in the drafting view and add Filled or Masking Region(s), delete the detail line or text, finish to save the group

- go back to sheet and you have a group with the Region(s)

Use a generic annotation family:

- create the family with Filled/Masking Region(s), load in project and place on sheets

Refer to previous reply #2... you use the generic annotation with a filled region in it.
