Far clip offset on a Section callout on a Section w/ a split segment

I used the "Split Segment" tool on a building section and then added a callout on the portion of the section line that was split. This portion of the section line is pulled behind the original section line. The far clip offset does not work as expected on this particular callout when the Far Clip settings are set to "independent" it still shows objects well beyond the Far Clip Offset value input (6" in this case).

If I place a callout on the portion of the same section that is not split (forward or behind the original section line) - the far clip offset works normally when far Clip settings are set to "independent" and the Far Clip Offset value is 6".

I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the far clip offset is still using the original section line on the split section and not the split segment location as I would believe it should.

I may have missed this in another post. Is there a remedy for this or should I just create a separate section for this issue and move on? Wondering if this is just me, if this is a bug or if I missed a note about this. Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you

Duplicate the Section View made from the Split Section, and change Far Clip of Duplicate.

Thank you.

  • I ended up just creating a new section (similar to your suggestion of copying the split segment).
  • This new section is located on the same split segment line of the troublesome section and it only captures that area where I need limited view depth.
  • This new section does not have a split segment.
  • I then "hid" this new section in all of the relative floor plan views.
  • I then went to my troublesome split segment section view, created a callout that only references (sim), the newly created - but hidden - section, and voila', the view depth problem is solved!

This is a mildly cumbersome, but workable "workaround".

Thank you barthbradley for your time and suggestion.
