Family trying to open as Central Model

Has anyone seen an issue similar to this, where a family throws a local user file error when opening the family?  Any suggestions on a fix?

You cannot save a Family as a Central Model.  This is a Family.

So if you get this message when

  1. you go to File Menu >> Open >> Family >> Navigate to that RFA and open it?
  2. Or do you have some Content/Library management add-in which you use to open and/or load families into models and then this pops up?

Attach the family lets try from our end

I do.  This is just a Family living on our file server.  No special management in place.  File is attached.

Thanks.

Edit - never mind previous reply it did prompt upon exiting... I will check it in a few but this is interesting because the whole family acts as if it is locked and no one but you can make changes to it (can make the changes but not save or save as)

You have just figured out how to lock/copy right/prevent changes to families lol

If you can figure out the cause, most probably yes...but that was a joke.

@chughes can bypass / get rid of the prompt as follows:

  1. load into a BLANK new model from an OOTB template and Delete original family
  2. Edit the one loaded into the new project
  3. Save As a new family

It must be something inherited from the original wokshared model it was saved from
