Family Inserts in the wrong direction

I've downloaded a family and am trying to use it in my drawing.  When I go to insert it, I get an elevation view in my plan view window and a plan view in my elevation window.  I've opened the family editor to try and change the origin, the work plane and reference planes.  I've seen that the host constraint is "Face" but can't seem to find where to alter that option.  I've searched for the past 3 hours googling every combination of this scenario but have little to no progress.  I'm attaching an image of the plan and elevation and the .rfa.  Any help would be appreciated.

If this is a problem already addressed in the forum and I missed it please redirect me.

Thanks!

You can't change the Family from Face-Based.

I just tested your family and it inserts into Project fine. Look at the Contextual Tab when you place it for different Placement Options (e.g. Place on Vertical Face, Place on Face, Place on Workplane) .

When you insert ot, pick Face or workplane, not Vertical face, from the option bar.

I have a similar problem with hardware for a door.  In plan and elevation views the lever set is in opposite placement  direction. Host for  hdwr is none, only face and work plane options are available for this one.  Tried to pick a new plane too, but nothing happened.  Any ideas?  Needs to rotate, but not allowed.

Thanks.

When you place an instance of the Family in the View, choose a Placement Option on the Contextual Tab. You probably have 3 Placement Options available.
