Uh, why? And how do you plan on switching between insertion points?

There is only one insertion point, determined by the intersection of the 3 reference planes are marked as "Defines Origin" in the family. There are some potential ways I can think of to work around this, but it'd be helpful to know what kind of family you are wanting to do this with first.

Nest the family in another family and set type parameters to shift its location.  When insert, different types give different insertion points.

Thank you for your reply . The family category is sprinkler , 2 types (recessed , semi-recessed) I need to define insertion point to determine the location of the sprinkler in the ceiling .the insertion point of recessed sprinkler is different from the one of semi-recessed .this should be set it up in one family file.

There is no need for two different insertion points.  Just use a parameter to change the location of your sprinkler vertically relative to the origin in the family then you can have recess or semirecess.
