Family elevation constraint parameters not working on project

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello Revit  forums

I have set 2 family parameters to constraint the elevation on a model to a min/max elevation of 80cm to1.00m. This works on the family but when it is inserted into a project the parameters do nothing since the project's elevation takes precedence over the family parameters.

Is there a way to set my constraints to work on the project?

you may need to make this parameter a shared parameter

I tried your suggestion but it still didn't override the proyect's elevation value nor did it limit the elevation.

try using a the elevation height control within the project using global parameters

The project won't allow me to set parameters to Elevation and trying to set the global parameter to the family's elevation doesn't do anything.

sorry....I must be tired....

I have create an Autodesk Tech Support case for you.  I will let you know the answer asap.  I will look at this again after I get some rest and can think clearly.  It is most likely a simple thing we are missing.

Perhaps @ToanTD can help....?

I really appreciate the help, maybe it's the family itself and it's constraints?

See to you later.

Why nest? Why not just build it as a Wall Based?

I'm trying to understand what you are trying to do.  Your if statement parameter "Elevacion por norma"  evaluates the family's "Elevation" Parameter. "Elevation" is not related to anything.  It's just a user-input and arbitrary value.  Additionally, "Elevacion por norma" doesn't drive anything either. Again, it's just an arbitrary value.

If you were label the dimension you're showing in the Family's Placement Side Elevation with the "Elevation" or "Elevacion por norma" parameter, the cabinet will attach to the Project Wall using that  Elevation as the "Default" automatically on placement in Plan View.   There shouldn't be anything to evaluate, as the Cabinet will automatically be at the proper height A.F.F.  on placement.

If you've got a bunch of them in the project and want to verify or manage there individual offset heights, you can easily do this through a schedule containing the in-built "Elevation" system parameter.

Try this.  Set the built-in Elevation = 9 and use your parameter to control the placement of the family.

Thank you very much!

Is there a way to hide the elevation parameter which stays at 0.0? Just want to avoid user confusion.
