Extrusion not showing in front elevation

While I was doing the extrusion for a dining chair seat, it comes up as just a line on the front elevation view instead of a block. I tried changing the extrusion end but no matter what number I change it to, it's still the same. What could have gone wrong and how can I fix it?

Check the Visibility Settings of the geometry in the Family.

In the Family. Select the extrusion and look for Visibility Setting under its Properties or on the Contextual Tab.  

...let's back up a second.  You are creating an Extrusion?  Did you click Finish yet?
