Looks to me like the Beams are interacting with a Structural Support. Is that a Structural Wall they are butting up against? Select the Wall an uncheck "Structural" and see if the Beams' extents change.
Yes, that was it. Although that wall (now unchecked) is below the joist and the framing system bears on that wall, therefore is structural - and we'd want it shown in framing plans. making it non-structural takes it out of the framing plan. I'll work with visibilities. also can make its level an underaly
