Expoted IFC is missing elements while using ifc4 schema

(I am using Revit 23 and Revit 21, both have the same problem)

Hi everyone.

I have a client that requires an IFC which is exported from Revit using IFC4 schema. However the exported IFC file seems to missing lots of elements like walls and windows and roof.

Here is a picture of the model inside Revit:

Here is a picture of the same project in Solibri after it is exported to IFC using IFC4 schema:

And here is the same building using the IFC 2x3 coordination view 2.0 schema:

I have tried different setups with the IFC4 schema and nothing seems to help. I have downloaded the latest Revit IFC-release from here https://github.com/Autodesk/revit-ifc/releases/tag/IFC_v23.1.1.0

Is there anything I can do to make IFC4 export to work or should I just tell the client that we need to use 2x3 Coordination view 2.0?

Can you upload the project so that we can have a look

I used Revit 2023 without the IFC2023 Addin. As IFC viewer I used Navisworks 2022.

In Revit I created 3D view and setup IFC export.

Used IFC4 Design Transfer View as startingpoint and only changed "Additional Content", "Export only elements visible in view"

Missing a wall in the IFC

In Revit used unjoin walls on that wall

You have to consider that not all software is ready for IFC4.

In the Netherlands IFX2x3 is still the standard.

I attached my created IFC4 file

Now that I think of it...

The elements that were missing were mostly either modified with Revit's join geometry tool or hosted on an element that were modified with a join geometry tool. Maybe this is the common denominator?

I'll do some testing and report back in this thread.

Yes, joining and "attach to" are reasons for weird results

.......

No matter if I unjoin the geometry, the model is still missing the same elements in Solibri.

I'll just have to inform the client that we can not use the IFC4 schema.

Thanks anyway!
