Exporting to dwg with layer modifiers

I'm trying to export a 3d view to dwg. I'm trying to get the furniture on each level on a separate layer.

I have set up layer modifiers for this:  {Furniture}_{Level}

However, the furniture is still ending up one single generic layer. Could it be that the layer modifiers only apply to 2d views and not 3d geometry?

@ToanDN thanks for taking the time to answer and even provide a screenshot!

I think it had to do with all of my families being workplane based.

It seems like the layer modifier works fine for workplane based families, but NOT for nested (shared) families inside that workplane based family*.

Worth filing as a bug or intended behavior?

* most of families uses shared nested families. For example chairs around a desk

It works if the host family is NOT workplane based.  It doesn't matter if the nested/shared families are workplane based or not.

Has anyone figured out how to get the Duct or Pipe System abbreviation as a modifier, currently there is not an option, just system classification or system name.
