I'm working on a Revit to AutoCAD export setup and I need to export all our Revit elements to CAD layers according to the standard of our client. I am using the Workset modifier so that worksets work as layers. Almost everything works fine except that some elements such as doors are exported as blocks that have their own layers per subcategory. Those elements are showing in the colors of their embedded layers. Also, the embedded layers will appear in the layer list. Is there a way to have all subcategories take the same layer as the category?

While this may seem to be a bug, if you consider that the Autocad block that is created by revit will be the same whether it is on a layer A-workset1 or A-workset2, the Autocad blocks component entities can't be on different layers by definition.
So if your client requires the Autocad door block insertion and component layers controlled by same layer, you must set the door subcategories to layer "0". Then choose BYLAYER or BYENTITIY for the Layer tab's export options (at top) if a color override is required for the subcategories (which is suspect is BYENTITY as the door jamb and the door leaf may require different pen thicknesses).
