Exporting Linked Files

Hi, everyone.

I have a question regarding Revit linked files.

Is it possible to export Revit linked files to the other platforms, or does one have to bind the linked files before exporting

An example could be exporting a Collada file for Lumion.

Thanks

You may get a quicker answer than waiting just by trying to do it yourself. Or do you not have Revit in hand?

I did attempt to export a Revit file to Lumion with linked files. The export froze and did not complete the task. This had never happened with a Revit file without linked files, hence my query.

Thanks for responding.

Hi @Anonymous,

In Revit, a DWG, DXF or RVT file can be linked to the project. This kind of link is called a RVT Link. When the project is exported to a DWG file, this type of link is represented in the exported drawing as an external referenced drawing. In this case, more than one drawing file may be created, with one referencing the other(s).

This is an excerpt from this AKN Article: File Link Tips. I hope this helps.

What is the format that you exported to? I don't see Lumion listed as a supported format. If you export to an interim format such as DWG, then you will need to bind the links in Revit, or bind the XREFs in AUtoCAD.
