What is the best way to export my sheet list to Excel and then load it back in? I have found there are several ways to do this, but none seem to work the way I expect. In the end, what I want to do is compile a couple dozen sheet lists from different Revit models, organize the thousands of data cells in a logical manner, renumber every sheet according to district standards, and then load the list back into one Revit model.
The first and most obvious answer is "export > reports > schedule", but this is a one-way function. I can export the sheet list, but I can't load it back in.
I also explored using Dynamo to change the sheet numbers directly. This worked to a certain level, but it didn't renumber linked sheets from consultants.
Then I tried looking for some add-ins. I found BIM One Excel Import/Export, which works by exporting a sheet list, editing the cells, and then loading it back into the same model. This worked very similarly to the Dynamo solution, it renumbered the sheets, but not the consultant's sheets. So then I tried bypassing the linking, by renumbering a consultant's sheet list and then loading it into the architectural model, but BIM One can only export/import to the same location.
I'm at my wit's end, do you see a solution? Is the answer some combination of the above trials? Is there a magic add-in that I don't know about? Please ask me some questions if my problem isn't clear.
Now that's all assuming there's a smart solution available. If all else fails, I have a dumb solution in my back pocket. I would go into each consultant and architectural model to export sheet lists to excel, modify each list individually cell by cell, save as a jpeg, and load the jpegs into one Revit model.
