Explode command missing for imported SAT file (Revit 2020)

Hello guys,

Following a tutorial in the official Revit 2018 Guide, where an imported SAT File is to be exploded.

I did import the file through the Import CAD command, but when I select the imported geometry the explode command is absent (see the attached image).

Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

Explode only works on dwg, dxf. Not sat.

Can you provide us with a link to the tutorial that you are following?  I'm curious to know what "official Revit guide" is tutoring you to "Explode" an SAT.  Not only can you not Explode an SAT in Revit, it is generally a bad idea to Explode DWGs in Revit.

Odd.  Do they have an "ImportCAD.dwg" or maybe "ImportCADsat.dwg". You can explode a dwg into a free-form element.

SATs may be explodable in earlier versions such as 2016. In the newer ones, they are imported in as freeform elements, not an imported elements so the option to explode is inapplicable. Anyhows, you don't need to export them. They can still be used to generate walls, roofs by faces, or curtain systems.

Explode this one (attached).  Imported the SAT file into AutoCAD and saved.

I have the same problem. I have Revit 2020 student edition, tried to open a .SAT FILE (7.0) and Revit tells me it can't do that..

You cannot open a SAT file in revit. You need to import it.

In old Revit versions You could explode the SAT files. I realised that just now.  I have had using Revit 2015 and it can be exploded in older versions.

To apply the material, I believe Autodesk should allow the user to explode the .sat file.

At the moment, "Object Styles" is the only way to add material. This is not an adaptable situation.

Newer versions allow you to export (isolated) element as SAT then import SAT directly over existing. You then Create Parts and modify materials as necessary.

This is particularly useful for stairs where you want the material to have multiple orientations.

Edit: Unfortunately the Parts do not show their area in a parts schedule, even though they show volume.
