Exorbitant cost of Revit subscription

The cost of using Revit is MUCH TOO HIGH.!.

If we want to keep up with professional standards for producing our work, we are forced to subscribe; but the cost of doing so is Ridiculous. One subscription for Revit for 1 year takes  60 hours of work to pay off. 60 hours of work "unpaid". Simply for the privilege of using a software programme. Not reasonable. I want a better deal.

this is a user forum not direct contact with sales

contact a reseller in your area here: https://www.autodesk.com/partners/locate-a-reseller?cntr=US to see if there are any promotions going on

Who are we? Maybe you should have a look at your project pricing. Based on a 40 hour week, that is 2% of a 52 week year. Factor in vacations and that goes higher. I would take the subscription cost and apply it to what you charge for projects. A 2% increase is not unreasonable as long as you are providing a decent product.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Umm...yeah.  You realize you are preaching to everyone dealing with the same issue.  I already know my next renewal is going to be more than last year.

It isn't so much the price increase that bothers me -- it's the Subscription Model we're all being be forced into, and which we will all be on eventually, whether we like it or not.

We just renewed. We had the option to continue on Maintenance for 3 more years, or switch to Subscription and receive a substantial discount + more "stuff".  At face value, Subscription seemed like a no-brainer  -- that is until we read the fine print of the Licensing Agreement.  Bottom line: Subscription strips you of any ownership of the product.  I mean that literally!  You cannot continue to use the product (ANY product, past or present) if you choose not to renew.  What's more; when you transfer to Subscription, you must relinquish all your rights of ownership of past products that you have already bought and paid for!   WTF?!!!  Let me repeat that: WTF?!!!

We renewed our Maintenance Contract.  F*ck the money!

You don't think we have?  I have a reseller that will not talk to us anymore and puts an assistant in contact instead.

I had Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold” playing in the background as I read through the Licensing Agreement.  Befitting too.  Autodesk has certainly got us in a Stranglehold – baby.
