EQ. not showing...

Revit 2018.3.2.7

I am drawing a dimension between 3 elements, hit "EQ." constraint, the elements move to the new location (equally spaced) but the dimensions still show the length value, not "EQ."

Yes, its one dimension with 3 references.

Yes, the elements are actually equally constrained, because if you move them Revit produces the error: "Euquality constraints are not satisfied...":

Yes, the dimension "Equal Display" instance parameter is set to "Equality Text".

Yes, the dimension "Equality Text" type parameter is set to "EQ.".

Still researching when this happens, but its a new annoyance, it used to work just fine...

Any idea?

Likely, there is already an EQ dimension in place.

If that was the case, Revit would not allow me to create a new equality constraint.

Anyway, the element that I am trying to center is created new, so no existing constraint there...

After some research, this issue happens equalizing a detail line in the middle of an elevator door jambs... the detail line gets moved to the middle, per constraint, but the dimensions still read the actual distance, not "EQ.".

If I create all the elements from scratch (wall, door, and line) it works properly.

Also, copy / pasting the elements in a new project will work properly....

There is something in the configuration of the model that prevents the "EQ." to display, despite the fact that a new equality constraint is actually created.

Having the same problem - Yesterday everything was working fine. Today dimensions won't change to the label EQ but instead show the value which are all the same since they are equidistant. Tried creating entirely new components and it still has the problem

Ok... further investigation reveals... bad modeling practices with some crazy dimensions on sketches and object locations. Things are off by 1/256 - and perhaps revit doesn't understand how to divide that in half?

What I've discovered is Revit is extremely picky about having things be perfectly parallel when dimensioning with eq and copying components that have been constrained to eq also can't be eq'd after. So if eq didn't work, I'd try reinserting the component again; if that didn't work, then I would use angular dimension on walls and type 90 in all around the walls where the eq wasn't working. Sometimes this fixed the problem, sometimes it didn't so I had to manually type eq in to get it over with.

I also believe it has to do with angles.. there is a point where Revit will dimension items that aren't parallel, but it seems to be unhappy about calling those EQ.  The project where we were having problems certainly had a lot of crazy angles...

Me too have the same issue, You can select the dimension and simply replace the text as EQ, as it is already equally constrained there wont be any other issues. Not a proper solution but the work will be move on.

Maybe try this

1. Ensure that dimensions are equal

2. right click on the dimension label

3. click EQ Display

If that still doesn't work erase the lines and create new ones then try the things above.
