EQ Dimension with linked files

Hello,

I have a linked architecture file and I work in my MEP file.

Sometimes i want to put air condition unit in the middle of two walls, I use DI - aligned dimension, click on a wall, click on my ac unit and on the other wall. I click EQ and instead of centering my ac unit it tries to move the linked file.

If the architecture is in my model there is no problem, only happens with linked files.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Pick order often makes a significant difference with Revit's Dimensions so try picking the elements in the link first, then pick your Equipment, then toggle the Eq.

Revit treats linked elements as a lower priority than elements in the active model.  There are workarounds:

- to move an element to the mid of two points, use Move tool and press S2 to activate midpoint snap, then pick two points on the linked walls

- to equidistant multiple elements between two linked walls, place a ref plane on each wall and place the dimensions to those planes

1)  Thats a nice workaround

2) Thats just too much work

Im sad that we lose a funcionality only because the file is linked 😞

Also I just disovered that its not because the linked file is being moved but its because everytime you EQ it also constrains it, and you cant constrain elements to a linked file

I wonder if it's a case of the unit being pinned or otherwise constrained to something already???

Here I dimensioned to two pipe centerlines in a mechanical link, then to a toilet partition in the Host Arch file and toggling EQ works as expected:

The mech link is pinned, the toilet partition is not.

I'm doing this in Revit 2023 BTW...
