Elements not visible in 3D view

I have a student that is working on his dream house in Revit. He has loaded in some various 3D elements that are not showing up in his 3D view. We thought the were maybe hidden, so we went to Reveal Hidden Elements. They do show up there, but when we try to unhide them, Revit is acting like they are not hidden. Any ideas why we can only see the elements in the hidden elements view when they are not hidden? Another weird thing is that it seems to be random objects. A car he placed is one, and also a couch. But other 3D elements show up just fine, like guitars and chairs. I have never seen this before, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

sometimes Revit Families contain Cad files. Try VG>Imported Categories>Imports in Families.
